Table Top Exhibition at iCC

In addition to various CAN interface manufacturers all important CANopen Stack and tool providers exhibit at the table top exhibition on the iCC. Of course, emtas is among them and exhibits its CANopen- and J1939-Stacks and tools. The highlight are our DeviceDesigner tools that generate automatically code and data structure for our CANopen and J1939 stacks. Additionally, the complete CANopen tools chain – from the CANinterpreter to the CANopen NetworkDesigner is presented.

Our complete CAN/CANopen tool chain is now available for OS X. This includes the CANopen DeviceDesigner, to design a single to CANopen device and the CANopen NetworkDesigner to design and simulate complete CANopen networks. Additionally, the CANinterpreter, a basic CAN analyzer with optional CANopen interpretation and as well as the CANopen DeviceExplorer are available for OS X. The CANopen DeviceExplorer is a CANopen master tool to configure or test CANopen devices. Even the CANopen UpdateManager, a specialized tool to update the firmware of CANopen devices can be used with OS X.

Version 1.1 of their CANopen Slave and Master stacks is released. The latest feature of the stacks is the support for Layer Settings Services (LSS) to handle node-Id assignment and the configuration of the bit rate via CANopen as defined in CiA 305. Among the LSS functions the detection and addressing of new unconfigured devices is the main task. CAN/CANopen Technology

CANopen has been the standard for open CAN based networks for nearly twenty years by now. It started as bus system for manufacturing cells in the automation and is now used in many different CANopen based systems as medical applications, lifts, mobile construction machinery, maritime applications, automation of laboratories and many others. The most recent field of application is the networking of components in pedelecs or Light Electric Vehicles (LEV). Although the standard is meant for a broader field the CiA profile is called „Energy Management Systems“.
