A growing number of CANopen devices today require bootloaders to update firmware in the field via CANopen. The use of a complete CANopen stack is often unsuitable for bootloaders because of the large flash memory requirements. The CANopen bootloader from emotas was therefore developed with a focus on low memory requirements.

A growing number of J1939 devices today require bootloaders to update firmware in a J1939 network. The use of a complete J1939 stack is often unsuitable for bootloaders because of the large amount of flash memory required. In J1939 networks there are several firmware update methods. Proprietary PGNs are often used, occasionally devices with DM13..DM18 can be found and insbesondere im Automobil-Umfeld werden auch UDS Bootloader in J1939 Netzwerken eingesetzt. In addition, there is the possibility to use the PGNs CAM11/CAM21 for firmware updates, which are used by our J1939 (CAM11/CAM21) bootloader.
More and more ECUs today require bootloaders to update the firmware in the field. The use of a complete UDS stack is often unsuitable for boot loaders because of the large amount of flash memory required. The boot loader only supports the services that are most necessary for a boot loader. The emotas UDSonCAN bootloader is available for various 16 and 32-bit microcontrollers and can be easily adapted to other target systems.
